VLC is a versatile and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It runs on all platforms: Windows, Linux, Mac, Unix, etc.
1. Go to http://www.videolan.org/vlc and click on "Download VLC".
2. Open the VLC installer in your Downloads folder and drag the VLC icon into your Applications folder. This player will allow you to open a variety of files, disks, webcams, devices, streams, etc.
