After an application has been downloaded and installed to your PC, a shortcut can be made to make it more accessible from your Finder, My Documents folder, Dock, or Desktop.
Create a Shortcut in the Sidebar of the Finder Window
- Open the Finder window.
- Click on Applications.
- Highlight the application you want to create a shortcut for.
- In the menu bar above, click on File, then Add to Sidebar. This application should now appear under the Favorites tab of the Finder window making it easy to access.
Create a Shortcut on Your Desktop
- Open the Finder window.
- Click on the Applications tab.
- Navigate to the application you want to create a shortcut.
- Right click and select Make Alias.
- Drag and drop the alias application to the desktop. The alias will serve as a representation of the original file such that any movement, renaming, or changes will apply to the original and the alias.
Create a Shortcut on Your Dock
- Open the Finder folder.
- Navigate to the application you want to create a shortcut for (accessible from Favorites or Applications tab).
- Right click on the application and select Add to Dock. The application icon should now appear on your dock.
