Create Shortcuts

After an application has been downloaded and installed to your PC, a shortcut can be made to make it more accessible from your Finder, My Documents folder, Dock, or Desktop.

Create a Shortcut in the Sidebar of the Finder Window

  1. Open the Finder window.
  2. Click on Applications.
  3. Highlight the application you want to create a shortcut for.
  4. In the menu bar above, click on File, then Add to Sidebar. This application should now appear under the Favorites tab of the Finder window making it easy to access.

Create a Shortcut on Your Desktop

  1. Open the Finder window.
  2. Click on the Applications tab.
  3. Navigate to the application you want to create a shortcut.
  4. Right click and select Make Alias.
  5. Drag and drop the alias application to the desktop. The alias will serve as a representation of the original file such that any movement, renaming, or changes will apply to the original and the alias.

Create a Shortcut on Your Dock

  1. Open the Finder folder.
  2. Navigate to the application you want to create a shortcut for (accessible from Favorites or Applications tab).
  3. Right click on the application and select Add to Dock. The application icon should now appear on your dock.
