Download Lockdown Browser
- Log into Schoology and navigate to the exam your teacher has assigned.
- When the exam is opened, click on the Install Lockdown Browser link.
- This will redirect you to the page below, click on the yellow DOWNLOAD button.
- Once the zip file has finished installing, open the zip file and launch the installer. Move through the prompts (agree, continue, allow) until the application is downloaded on your computer.
- You can verify the application is on your computer by locating these icons in your applications folder or your finder.
Take the Assessment
1. Please close all other applications.
2. Ensure your URL is bishopodowd.schoology.com - the application will NOT load if you are on app.schoology.com.
3. Click on Start New Attempt.
4. Lockdown browser will load. It will likely give you a message that "Some Blocklisted Applications are running." Click the grey button Close Applications and Continue to launch the browser and take the exam.
Common Errors
1. "No Servers Found for the Institution that Support Auto Launching." If this is the case, please go to bishopodowd.schoology.com and access the assessment that way - make sure your URL is not app.schoology.com.
2. "Remove Screencastify from your Google Chrome Browser." Please navigate to your Google Chrome extensions (puzzle piece in the top right hand corner of your Chrome browser) and remove Screencastify. Make sure this is removed from every Chrome profile on your browser.
3. "Update download failed error 403." If this occurs, please move your current LockDownBrowser application to the trash, and redownload LockDownBrowser with a new package.
4. "403 Forbidden" If you receive an error page like this in your Chrome browser, try using this download link to download LockDown Browser.
5. "Permissions error." Please ensure you are logged into the account on your device that has administrator access, or you have the device's administrator password. The device's administrator has the permissions to install LockDown Browser.
6. Error message regarding date and time: Ensure you are connected to O'Dowd Student Wifi.
7. Error message regarding notifications: close notifications center
8. If you have Lockdown Browser installed but the quiz is not launching, refresh the page and click Start New Attempt one more time. If it still does not work, please confirm you are on the wifi and you actually have the browser. (You can check this in your applications folder)
9. If your computer freezes while trying to launch the browser, please restart your computer and close out your applications and web tabs. Having many programs running while trying to launch the browser can cause issues.
