Adding Lockdown Browser to an Assessment

Visit this link for information on using AP Classroom's Lockdown Browser.

1. Set up your assessment in Schoology. If your students will be using Lockdown Browser for the first time, we recommend setting up Lockdown Browser with a practice assessment, like the one below called "Download Lockdown Browser." 

2. Click Lockdown Browser on the left hand side of your Course Options menu.

3. Locate the quiz you wish to add Lockdown Browser to and select the down arrow and click Settings. 

4. Toggle the button to  Require Respondus LockDown Browser for this exam

5. Click on Advanced Settings and determine which settings you would like your students to access.

Recommendations for Advanced Settings:

 Lock students into the browser until exam is completed 
Password to close browser and exit exam early (optional) 

Locking students into the browser does not allow them to exit the exam before they submit. We recommend checking this option and then also entering a password that you can provide students should they need to leave early.

 Allow access to specific external web domains 

This option is not terribly reliable and can be a little clunky. 

 Enable Calculator on the toolbar 

Great option for math classes!

 Enable Printing from the toolbar 

This could be a good option if you want students to provide you a hard copy of the exam (like an essay) but otherwise, we recommend leaving this unchecked.
