A sandbox course is a private space where teachers can experiment, plan, and build course materials without affecting live student courses. It’s ideal for:
Designing a course structure before copying it into a real course
Testing assessments, quizzes, and discussions
Collaborating with colleagues on curriculum planning
Step-by-step Instructions:
- Log into Schoology
- Go to https://app.schoology.com and sign in.
- Click "Courses" in the Top Menu
- In the upper navigation bar, hover over or click "Courses."
- Select “My Courses” (Top Right)
- A drop-down appears. Click "My Courses" in the top right corner of the menu.
- Click "Create Course"
- In the "My Courses" page, you'll see a blue "Create Course" button. Click it.
- Enter Course Info
- Course Name: Something like “Sandbox – [Your Name]”
- Section Name: “Planning” or “Fall 2025,” etc.
- Subject Area & Level: Pick something relevant, but these are not critical for sandboxing.
- Click Create.
- Once the course is created, you can:
- Add materials (folders, quizzes, assignments)
- Test different layouts and tools
When you're ready to use materials in a real class:
- Go to the live course → Add Materials → Import from Resources
Save your sandbox content to Resources first, then import
