Create a Sandbox Course in Schoology

A sandbox course is a private space where teachers can experiment, plan, and build course materials without affecting live student courses. It’s ideal for:

  • Designing a course structure before copying it into a real course

  • Testing assessments, quizzes, and discussions

  • Collaborating with colleagues on curriculum planning

Step-by-step Instructions:

  • Log into Schoology
    • Go to https://app.schoology.com and sign in.
  • Click "Courses" in the Top Menu
    • In the upper navigation bar, hover over or click "Courses."
  • Select “My Courses” (Top Right)
    • A drop-down appears. Click "My Courses" in the top right corner of the menu.
  • Click "Create Course"
    • In the "My Courses" page, you'll see a blue "Create Course" button. Click it.
  • Enter Course Info
    • Course Name: Something like “Sandbox – [Your Name]”
    • Section Name: “Planning” or “Fall 2025,” etc.
    • Subject Area & Level: Pick something relevant, but these are not critical for sandboxing.
    • Click Create.
  • Once the course is created, you can:
    • Add materials (folders, quizzes, assignments)
    • Test different layouts and tools

When you're ready to use materials in a real class:

  • Go to the live courseAdd MaterialsImport from Resources

Save your sandbox content to Resources first, then import
