Use Focus Mode

We have enabled Focus Mode on Zoom for all teachers so that you can enable focus mode during a meeting whenever you'd like.

What is focus mode?

When focus mode is on, your view (the host's view) doesn't change, but the students will only see your video and their video. All other participants (students) will appear to have their videos off. They will still be able to hear each other speak and they can chat based on your settings, but they will not see everyone else's video on.

Focus mode can be turned on and off whenever you want, so you can switch it on for lecture then off for discussion, etc.

To enable focus mode:

  1. During a meeting, click on the More (triple dots) at the bottom of your Zoom screen.
  2. Click Start Focus Mode.
  3. Click Start. (You can check off that you don't want to see this screen in the future.)
You can tell focus mode is on because you will see a grey bullseye in the top left corner:

To disable focus mode:

  2. Click Stop Focus Mode.
